This Story Will Illustrate What We Do.

Picture this: It’s the earliest days of responsive web design. The internet is just starting to realize that phones are here to stay, but most websites look absolutely unusable on anything smaller than a laptop screen. Everyone is working hard… pinching, zooming, and not happy.

Enter our client.  They had thousands of products, thousands of intricate pages, and an avalanche of complex technical specifications that absolutely had to be readable. Their website was essentially a beautiful, valuable digital library that refused to fit on any mobile device. It was a usability issue on an epic scale.

They came to Applied Elements, and the conversation was simple: “Our universe does not fit in this tiny screen. We know you do this for other companies. Please help.”

We didn’t just give them a “mobile view” that hid half the features. We rolled up our sleeves, and went to work proving out “Design First” methodology from the presentation layer out and back. We didn’t just redesign a website; we performed architectural surgery on a multi-thousand-page data ecosystem.

The result? We made that entire complex, product-heavy, data-rich monster fully, beautifully, and instinctively responsive. The client’s exiting beautiful desktop view as now matched for mobile users without compromise. we did this all without rebuilding the site, just applying the necessary code to presentation layer. Long before it was standard practice, we proved that complexity doesn’t have to sacrifice readability.

And that client? They went from mobile problem to a mobile-first digital success story. We continue to build even more complex sites and solutions for them.
